PINK IS MY FAVOURITE COLOUR

I’ve always loved Audrey Hepburn.  I grew up watching her movies Breakfast at Tiffanys, My Fair Lady and my favourite Wait until Dark and wishing I could be just like her, sophisticated elegant and sexy all at once.

I’ve used a couple of her quotes in my new card range Motto and then chose this for my niece’s 18 birthday gift.  Perfect words for any young lady and still true today. I especially like the line “The prettiest girls are the happiest girls”  I believe in Pink!

This print is now available in our shop and makes the perfect gift for any pink loving girl out there.

RECYCLED GIFTWRAP

Last week I needed to wrap up a birthday gift, but we had no wrapping paper anywhere!   It was my son’s 15th birthday and we had all bought him something weeks before but had left it to the last minute to wrap it.  Now here I was the night before, stores closed and only the brown paper we wrap our orders up in.  So with the help of my daughters and some paint we decorated the boring brown paper with colourful circles, using various circular things we found in the kitchen.

Things got a little messy, but we had a lot of fun.

It was an inexpensive way to make a unique giftwrap for my son’s presents.  To finish the look we added letter “J” gift tags tied on with string.

I also made up some bunting by stringing a bunch of paper triangles onto some embroidery thread and hung them around the kitchen to surprise him when he came down the next morning

Here’s a few of the colourful birthday cards he received this year, including the one we gave him in the centre.  Of course after this brown paper project we had to chose this one from our new RAINBOW range.  The other cards he received from his Aunts compliment it so well too.

CANADA WITH A CAPITAL "C"

Colourful, Creative and Cultural is how I would describe OTTAWA our Nation’s capital. I’ve lived in Canada for 8 years now and only got around to visiting Ottawa this weekend!! Worth the wait though. Old buildings, great architecture, lots of art, markets, and did I say old buildings. Everything I miss from home.
This piece of art was right in our hotel, a mural of grass, real living grass.

Below is a view of parliament hill taken as we made our way across the bridge to Gatineau, QC
The leaves are just beginning to turn.

One of my favourite buildings in the city. I love the colours the grey on the red brick, and the ornate windows.

This is a shot of the ceiling of the Notre Dame Cathedral.
Ottawa’s streets are filled with sculptures and these two were my favourite. Above is entitled “JOY” and below is the huge spider we found outside the Art Gallery.
A little imposing at first but friendly when you get to know her.
